The Pledge of Advocacy of Single Mothers-to-be

1. In your practice, you must
accept, welcome, and embrace women of all reproductive rights
views, honoring the free will and life path of every other
individual regardless of age, race, religion, or political
views.
2. You must believe
that a child is better off being raised by a single parent (male
or female) than in a two-parent family in which physical or
emotional abuse is taking place.
3.
You must believe that every individual, regardless of
marital status, has infinite potential to succeed with your help
and that of a loving and empowering community.
4. You must adhere to the belief
that the option of adoption should ONLY be explored at the
request of the counselee or pregnant woman, and should not be
suggested as a solution to temporary conditions such as youth,
heartbreak, poverty, former lifestyle choices, or current lack
of education, as none of these factors presents a true risk to
the safety or survival of the mother and or child, and thus does
not call for such a solution.
5. You
must not regard the children of single mothers-to-be as
“mistakes that should have been prevented,” regardless of what
kind of circumstances let to their creation
