Lauren Guy-McAlpin Biography
Lauren
is a DONA-trained birth doula pursuing certification. Originally
from Atlanta, Lauren moved to North Carolina at 18 to study
dance at UNC-Greensboro, where she also earned a degree in
Women's and Gender Studies in 2008. After what seemed like a
lifetime of identifying herself as an advocate for women, the
decision to pursue doula work seemed to fall into her lap quite
organically. Lauren was thrilled to receive her birth doula
training directly from author and DONA co-founder Penny Simkin
in August of 2009. She continues to work on behalf of the
betterment of women’s reproductive health care on a public
level, but values her role as a family's personal advocate
beyond comparison.
